Christmas is Bright But Not White

First things first, you’re very unlikely to see snow so you can rule out a white Christmas. But if you’re tired of the cold and wet weather, then a sunny Christmas in Dubai offers the perfect weather with temperatures between 26 and 30 degrees Celsius.

Dubai is the perfect destination if you’re looking for a Christmas that you can spend in your summer dress, t-shirt & shorts or even your swim wear by the beach.

You Don’t Have to Change A Thing About Christmas Dinner

For many, Christmas isn’t Christmas without a golden-glazed stuffed turkey,  potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce and brussel sprouts. If you’re staying somewhere with a kitchen and want to treat yourself and your family to a traditional dinner, then you can easily buy everything you need for a Christmas dinner from the local supermarkets. One of the good things about Christmas in Dubai, is that the shops are open, so even a last-minute dash to pick up your ingredients is possible.

Dubai is a lifesaver for those who normally end up spending the day in the kitchen preparing a meal for loved ones. If you plan to spend Christmas in Dubai you can skip that for a year as there are lots of restaurants that offer traditional and special menus for tourists and locals. So you can easily enjoy a stress-free time eating a meal with loved ones, whilst enjoying a glass of wine, some festive cocktails or mocktails. A few restaurants that offer special menus on Christmas include the Social by Heinz Beck, Atmosphere, Farriers, Cabana, Alici, Zoco, Armani, La Farine, Roberto’s, Masti, Bistro Des Arts and The Lobby Lounge. There are many more as well and a quick Google search will bring up restaurants offering festive menus for Christmas . It can get busy over Christmas so it’s best to have a table booked in advanced, your travel agent should be able to do this for you before your trip.

You Can Have Your Own White Christmas

Yes, it’s unlikely to snow on Christmas in Dubai, but you can choose to have a little snow on or near Christmas by visiting Ski Dubai, where despite the warm weather all year-round outside, you can experience the snow and cool weather inside. There is skiing, snowboarding, thrilling snow rides, penguin encounters and even a snow cinema to watch the latest block busters.

The City is Yours to Explore

Dubai is open as normal on Christmas Day so you could spend the day visiting beaches, going on a desert safari or explore the huge malls. Whether with friends, family or as a single adventurer you could visit one of the fantastic pubs or bars to spend Christmas enjoying a few expertly crafted cocktails. Or spend Christmas afternoon making sandcastles on your hotel beach or one of the public beaches like JBR Open Beach, Al Mamzar Beach Park, Dubai Creek or the Jebel Ali Beach.

The malls are all open too and the city stays up till late so you can choose to spend the entire day shopping (or window shopping) in some the world’s most lavish malls.

Book in a Show

Dubai has quite a few spectacular shows up its sleeve. Some special shows around this Christmas include The Sound of Christmas (with performances by the Dubai Opera Big Band or The Nutcracker Ballet at the Dubai Opera. Many of the hotels also put on live shows over the period and we cant forget the fabulous Dubai Fountain light Show on every day at the Burj Khalifa lake.

Escape to the Desert

Not on the mood for any of the traditional Christmas events. Dubai’s got you covered there too; you could slip away to the desert in a 4x4 and spend the afternoon driving through, up and down the impressive dunes. Once you’re there you can skip the Christmas dinner for an adrenaline hit, by sandboarding or riding a dune buggy through the desert. Finish the day off with some traditional Emirati food around a campfire listening to some Arabic music and watching the night sky.
